Smooth Edges
To avoid the harsh horizontal lines and ridged look of a traditional binding, an alternate method of edge finishing is used on Pop Antique eveningwear corsets. The top and bottom edges are discretely tucked towards the interior, covered with a coordinating petersham ribbon, and hand-stitched to the corset's strength layer. Petersham ribbon is both sturdy and moldable, and therefore perfectly suited to this task.
Hidden Bones
Pop Antique's eveningwear corsets are boned by the same standards as the basic construction, but you wouldn't know it from the smooth exterior. Each seam shows only a neat row of close edgestitching. The bones are securely anchored to the smooth lining only. Best of all, this principle is even applied to the center back reinforcement, where evenly set grommets seemingly float in a straight line down the center back with their framing bones hidden.
Invisible Busk
If you desire a smooth-fronted look without the hassle of a closed front, consider a concealed busk. Pop Antique's concealed busk construction places the classic busk closure literally inside out. Please note that this technique is a bit more difficult to operate, particularly as your established muscle memory won't work. But once fastened, the invisible busk is just as comfortable and stable as the standard installation. A covered busk is also available, as shown above.
