About
The Designer: Marianne Faulkner was born in 1987, in the small coastal town of Carmel, CA. Her parents were a musician and a high school Spanish teacher, who encouraged both intellectualism and creativity in their children. Even at a very young age, Marianne loved to draw and it was accepted as fact that she would grow up to be a fashion designer. Her interest in corsetry was first sparked as a teenager, when she surrounded herself with fantasy novels and theater buffs.
The Designs: Launched in 2007, Pop Antique is an eclectic, feminine daywear line with a focus on sustainable design and innovative corsets. The name represents Marianne's work by bringing together a playful, modern element with references to bygone eras for a result that is neither dated nor derivative. Taking cues from specialty fashion scenes, she interprets them in a way that is accessible for mainstream and subculture fashionistas alike. Pop Antique's characteristic sophisticated whimsy is the product of Marianne's design philosophy that fashion exists primarily as a form of self-expression. For all that the line is known for its quirky corsetry, there is also a practical element to the designs. Pop Antique strives to provide the most comfortable corsets available as ready to wear.
